From the forests of Norway comes one of the world's largest makers of newsprint. Norske Skogindustrier -- a.k.a. Norske Skog -- trails only Canada's Resolute Forest Products in the newsprint business. ("Skog" is Norwegian for "forest.") The company's products are used to make newspapers, telephone directories, inserts, flyers, magazines, catalogs, and books. Norske Skog, which incorporates recycled paper into some products, operates about 10 paper mills and 22 sales offices in seven countries. In 2013 the company divested its operations in Thailand and Brazil in order to streamline its operations and improve its financial position.
